About this treatment

What are anti-wrinkle injections?

Anti-wrinkle injections are commonly discussed in relation to expression lines — the lines that appear when we frown, smile or raise our eyebrows. Some injectable treatments use prescription-only medicines to temporarily reduce the activity of selected facial muscles. These treatments require an individual clinical assessment and appropriate prescribing.

At Rebecca Jane Aesthetics, consultations focus on your facial movement, skin concerns and the result you would like to achieve. We explain the options, limitations, risks and alternatives, with an emphasis on a considered approach that respects your natural expression.

Our clinic in Addlestone is convenient for clients from across Surrey, including Weybridge, Chertsey, Walton-on-Thames, Byfleet, West Byfleet, Ottershaw, Cobham, Esher and Guildford.

Key benefits

Why choose a personalised consultation?

An individual facial assessment helps you understand the available options and make an informed decision.

✧

Natural-looking approach

We discuss subtle changes and your preferred appearance, including how facial movement contributes to expression lines.

◇

Long-term planning

We consider how your expression lines and skin change over time, rather than focusing on a single appointment.

◷

Efficient appointment

The consultation allows time for assessment and questions; where clinically appropriate, injection procedures are generally brief.

♡

Aftercare and review

You receive tailored advice on recovery, possible side effects and when a follow-up assessment is appropriate.

The process

Your treatment journey

01

Consultation

A detailed facial assessment covers your expression patterns, medical history, concerns and goals, followed by a discussion of suitable options.

02

Treatment planning

Where an injectable option is clinically appropriate, the prescribing and consent process comes first. The procedure involves carefully placed injections using fine needles.

03

Aftercare

Temporary pinprick marks or bruising are possible. You receive clear instructions, including which symptoms need prompt medical advice.

04

Review

For relevant muscle-relaxing injections, effects commonly develop over several days, with the full effect assessed at around 14 days. Review arrangements are explained individually.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Does the treatment hurt?

People often describe fine-needle injections as a brief pinch or sting. Sensation and comfort vary.

How long until I see results?

For commonly used muscle-relaxing injections, changes usually begin over several days, with the full effect typically assessed after around 7–14 days.

Will I look frozen or unnatural?

This depends on the clinical approach, your facial anatomy and individual response. Your desired level of movement and the limitations of treatment should be discussed at consultation.

How often would I need treatment?

Effects are temporary and often last approximately three to four months. Repeat treatment is not automatic and should follow reassessment.

Are there any side effects?

Bruising, swelling, tenderness and headache can occur. Less commonly, unwanted muscle weakness, eyelid or brow drooping and other complications can occur. Your clinician should explain the full risks and what to do if symptoms arise.

Is there any downtime?

Many people resume routine activities the same day, although temporary redness, marks or bruising can occur. Follow the specific aftercare advice given.

What happens at the consultation?

We review your concerns, facial movement, medical history, expectations, suitability, alternatives, potential risks and any necessary prescribing arrangements.
